Why be creative when you can be a blogger?

So, since I’m in high school, I have to take an elective, so I chose…

Creative Writing. And it’s mostly writing poetry. Which I’m good at. So, as not to be a coward, I’ll post all my final work that’ll go in my anthology at year’s end. The school year that is. As a little starter, here’s one I wrote earlier today:

Heights of waterfalls
Rip through skylines; leaves float on
Like fearless Vikings.

As you can tell, this is a haiku. Stay addicted. I’ll add another next week.

And an acrostic.

Powerful thoughts escape into words
Operating with the current of rhyme
Envisioned in the mind of the author
Taken over by the creativity
Read by everyone but meant for one
Yielding to the beauty of the language

And a personification.

I, the snow,
Gracefully falls from the upper levels
Piles of indistinguishable children
Disappear into water with sunlight
To rise once again and be welcomed back home.

-Mat 5.4.07

Lo and behold, my own balanced poem.

Waves,
Rise and fall.
The moon draws you near.
Ocean tides push close and fade.
Gently brushes against the beaches
Wet rubbish floats on top.
While the children play
With the lazy
Shores.

Hmm, what about another haiku? Okay!

Lonely isle of pain
Stands among naught; daylight dawns
Shimmering like glass.

[All of them are uploaded and readable. Sorry it took so long. Check out the links on the sidebar. Enjoy.]

What lovely poetry! And you are only 16? Can I hang around and watch you grow up? Keep it up, kiddo!
